We finally caved and turned our Dining Room into a Play Room. We figured since we've only sat in that room twice (once being two days ago) since we moved in, it would not hurt us to change the purpose of the room. Jackson has already been enjoying it. We were able to pull all the toys from behind the couch and actually organize them. Hopefully we'll be able to keep it organized.
The last picture is Jackson playing with a tool set his Uncle Ken & Aunt Steph gave him for Christmas. Lately he's been really into tools. He received several tools for Christmas and has loved all of them. He's always building and fixing things. Hopefully he'll be a handy husband one day.

New Year's Day
Michael's family came to our house on New Year's Day. Luckily the weather was warm and the kids were able to enjoy the swing set outside. I think the daddies enjoyed the swing set too.

Painting the Nursery
Michael was painting Grayson's nursery last night and he let Jackson lend a hand. Jackson was so proud of the work he did.

Christmas in Midland
We spent Christmas at Mammaw's in Midland this year. Since we only had a few days to get away, Midland was much easier than making the trek to New Mexico again.
Jackson got a weed eater from Nana Jo & Grampa. Luckily for Mr. Safety, the weed eater came with safety goggles.
Jackson was really into opening the presents this year. Last year he didn't really know what to do. This year he would get too busy playing with each gift after he opened it, he'd forget that he had more to unwrap. It made opening presents last longer.
One of Jackson's main presents from Nana Jo & Grampa was a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse card table with chairs. He loved it. He and Emily even ate their Christmas dinner at their own table.
Santa visited Emily in Midland (Santa visited Jackson at home with his swing set) and brought her Elmo's Kitchen. She and Jackson had a ball playing with it. They were totally distracted and forgot all about all the presents they had to open.

New Tradition?
Last night we decided to start a new tradition. After we ate dinner, we put Jackson in his PJs and went to look at Christmas lights (after a stop through Starbucks). It was so much fun. Jackson loved all the lights! Hopefully this will be something we can do each year. Last night I messed up dinner but in the future, maybe we could make a good, special dinner for our night of Christmas lights.
Michael with his Peppermint Mocha Twist.
We saw lots of wreaths on the houses. The first wreaths we saw, Jackson yelled, "Look at the donuts." It took me awhile to figure out what he was talking about. If you know me, you know how appropriate that comment is for my child. Jackson & I do love our donuts!

Christmas Came Early
Christmas came early at our house. Michael's parents came to town this weekend and brought Christmas with them. Jackson has finally discovered the joy of opening presents and he had a BLAST! Below are some pictures of his presents. The pictures are actually taken with an early Christmas present for mommy & daddy. We bought a new camera! We finally have a camera with a shutter speed fast enough to keep up with Jackson.
Jackson showing off his Handy Manny tools.
Jackson and Nana examining a gift.
Papa showing Jackson his new trunk. This will keep all of the toys put up and it matches his room decor. (The giraffe rocker is Grayson's. Isn't it cute?)
Mr. Potato head was one of the toys in his new toy chest.
Finally finished...this is the swing set we gave Jackson for Christmas. It's a little hard to keep it wrapped and under the tree.

Carol of Lights
One of my favorite traditions at Texas Tech is the Carol of Lights. The first weekend of December, they have an annual lighting of the campus. Raider Red leads everyone in, the choir sings Christmas Carols, and then all at once all of the Christmas lights on campus are lit for the first time. I've always wanted to take Jackson and this year we happened to be in Lubbock at the right time. Though it was FREEZING cold, we had a good time.
