Some Things Never Change

Above is a picture of Jackson when he was a baby. This is how I found him when I came home from work one day when Michael was watching him.

This is a picture of Jackson this evening. I was checking email and Michael told me I needed to look at my son. This is how I found him.

Finally, this is a picture of Grayson. Jackson was playing with the rings, shaking them so Grayson could hear the bells. I went into the kitchen and came right back to find Grayson like this.

Chippin's friend Dale

Jackson has heard "Chip & Dale" always together so when you ask him to say their names individually, they are "Chippin" and "Dale". Isn't it funny what toddlers hear and what they think something is? I remember thinking the words to Take Me Out To The Ballgame were "Buy me some peanuts & cracker jacks. I don't care if I ever get fat" instead of "ever get back". It wasn't until I was in college that I realized I was singing it wrong.

Children's Museum

Since my mom, Nana Jo, is in town, I've been trying to do thing with Jackson that I wouldn't want to attempt alone yet. I'm not completely confident in my ability to wrangle Jackson while carrying Grayson or pushing a stroller.

Monday we loaded up and went to the Museum of Nature and Science at Fairpark. The entire museum is fairly interactive but the entire basement is the "Children's Museum". It's completely interactive and can keep the kids busy for hours. We were there for two full hours and could have stayed longer but our tummys were hungry. I highly encourage this museum if you're looking for something to do with your kids. I'm thinking we'll make a trip back sometime this summer when it's too hot to be outside. The lady I talked to said that they're adding new exhibits in May so it should be even more exciting later this Spring.

Throughout the exhibit there are costumes to put on. Jackson didn't want much to do with any of the costumes except the Firefighter outfit until we put a bee head on Grayson. Once he saw that Grayson had a costume on, he decided he'd put on a bee head too. Poor Grayson, he slept through everything but we had to get him in at least one picture.

I think Jackson is a country boy at heart. He sat down and knew exactly what to do with the cow. It was pretty funny except that he came home and told his daddy the cow gives us water.

Fun with Cousin Emily

Jackson was so excited to see his cousin Emily. He talked about her the whole way there and was thrilled when she finally arrived. They played non-stop. Since they're only 9 months apart, they have a pretty good time playing. Having two 2-year olds in the house made everything more interesting...lots of giggling, lots of running, lots of lessons on sharing, and lots of memories.

Emily in her Easter shades

I brought Emily & Jackson both a little Easter basket filled with goodies (thanks to the dollar area at Target) so they'd have things to play with at Mammaw's. The glasses were a hit.

While at Ruby's, we had to find some creative ways to keep Emily & Jackson entertained. Emily enjoyed playing in Grayson's car seat while Jackson enjoyed taking pictures with my camera. This picture is actually one that Jackson took. Maybe he'll be a photographer one day?

Visiting More Family

Jackson, Grayson, and I made a quick trip to my grandmother's house this week. We only spent two nights but had the chance to introduce Grayson to a lot of family. We had a great time visiting. Jackson and Grayson both did really well on the drive to and from but they are both really glad to be home in their own beds tonight.

1 Month Old

Grayson looks a little concerned with the big giraffe.

This is his typical, peaceful gaze.

Grayson's hair doesn't look this red in person.

He's actually quite peaceful on his tummy already.

This IS our second child...

I'm sorry for the poopy picture but I couldn't resist. Today I was up at work for a short meeting. Grayson and I were only up there for a total of 3 hours and we went through every diaper in his diaper bag. We picked Jackson up and were just about to head home (after Jackson's daily visit to Ms. Patty's office for a treat and play time) when I saw that Grayson had a blow-out. He was already strapped in his carrier (which he hates the process of being strapped in) and I was not about to pull him out. Since I didn't have one of his diapers in my bag, and I didn't want to get poop all over his carrier...thus causing more washing for me...I decided to just improvise. I took one of Jackson's diapers out of his bag, stuck it under the blow-out, and off we went. The funny thing is that I didn't hesitate. I just saw the problem, fixed it with Jackson's diaper, and left. When we were driving home, I realized what had happened...I would have NEVER done this with Jackson but I guess since Grayson is our second child, the rules are a little different. Poor little guy.
