Lost Pictures

When mommy & daddy were skiing in Colorado a couple of months ago, they left me behind at Nana & Papa's. Uncle Chris & Aunt Melissa came over and boy did they do me in. Before I could even realize what was going on they had me all dressed up and kept taking pictures. See for yourself. I couldn't believe they put me in such an outfit! They were smart not to show these pictures to mommy & daddy until the damage had been done. I'm not sure if I'll ever get to be alone with them again...no telling what they'll teach me once I can talk?

Me, Caleb, & Aunt Melissa...this was before they turned on me.

Caleb taking a picture with me.

I just realized what my shirt said and I'm just thinking "get me out of this outfit". Caleb & Madison have such a tight grip on me, I can't escape.

No, no, Uncle Chris, you're supposed to give the Guns Up!

Yikes, what does my shirt say? On my way to where?

This is not good, I need some red & black. I know mommy & daddy wouldn't agree to this.

Enjoying the weather

Just a picture of me breathing in some fresh air after daddy finished mowing the grass. Look at me with short sleeves on and no shoes or socks...and it is still February. I like being able to go outside without my coat & hat.

While I Was Sleeping....

I always wondered what goes on when I take a nap. I used to fight going to sleep because I thought all kinds of fun stuff went on when I was in bed. I've grown out of that and decided that naps are pretty cool...until today. This morning I was up at the church with mommy so I didn't get my ususal morning nap (there's just too much to do and too many people to play with in the nursery) so when I got home, I had lunch and then crashed. In fact, when daddy got home, I was still sleeping so he came to wake me up. Little did I know, while I was sleeping a pretty girl was playing in my house with my toys. Mommy kept Molly while her mommy had something to do. Mommy didn't even wake me up to let me know she was here...mommy just let me sleep the day away and miss the opportunity of a lifetime. It's not that often a little guy like me gets to play with a pretty girl like Molly all by myself. Maybe Molly will come back when I'm awake so we can have a real playdate.

Molly playing with my blocks. Isn't she pretty?

Molly's showing off her teeth. She has A LOT more than I do.

Molly is also a pro at standing. Mommy said she loved my exersaucer.

Friends

We had some friends over today. It was so much fun to have all my buddies here to play. Sometimes mommy gets a little boring. I played so hard. The minute my friends left, I found my blanket in my crib and crashed.

Tanner trying out my wheels.

Braeden, Mary, & Molly with Mrs. Kali.

Tickle Me Elmo made Eli laugh so hard. Mary & I thought Eli was more fun to watch than Elmo.

Tooth?

Many of you have heard that I'm getting my first tooth. I'd love to show you a picture of it but I can't yet. Mommy & daddy held me down this morning to see if they could see it and I only let them see the very top. Don't worry, I'm working hard at getting the whole tooth out so everyone can see it. Keep checking back, I'll release a picture soon.

Peaches

Mommy & daddy have been letting me eat a lot more table food. They let me try just about everything but I must say my favorite is peaches. They're a little slippery to hang onto but when I do get one in my mouth, man they're good!

What a Week

I'm going to let mommy talk a bit today:

When you say that it's hard to have so many life events happen at once, you're not kidding. This past week was one of those weeks. Anxiously, Jackson & I boarded a plane on Thurs evening to be in Lubbock when my sister delivered her first baby. As I was leaving the office on Thurs, I told Gary "Don't worry, I'll be back by Sunday. I'm just there for less than 48 hours and there's no threat of bad weather." Little did I know... I was so proud of myself for packing only the necessities for me & Jackson. I drove us to the airport, found the perfect spot in the A lot so that when we got off the plane, I'd have to walk minimal steps to be in my car and heading home. I had a diaper bag, a backpack (with our 2 days of clothes tightly fit in a space saver bag), a stroller, and car seat. I had no idea I'd later regret being such a skimpy packer. Thursday night Steph (my sister) was supposed to go into the hospital to be induced but she was told there was no room so wait and call again at 7am on Friday. Friday we woke up to snow. So here we are with no signs of a baby on the way and bad weather (my 48 hour plan is not looking promising)...so we went to the mall. While there, my mom received a call from my dad saying that he was on his way from NM to Midland because my Granddad was in the hospital. By 6pm that evening, mom & I were sitting in the hospital room with Steph while my dad was in the Hospice room at the hospital in Midland with my Granddad. Though we were all sitting in different rooms in different towns, our hearts and minds were with the others. By late Saturday night, we were torn even more. My sister was having to have a C-Section and my granddad was slipping more and more away. (My mom's mother said it best I think when she said that my granddad and Emily were going to pass each other on their journeys. I know that my granddad had not died when Emily made her appearance that night but I do believe that his spirit was well on it's way to meet Jesus. Maybe that's how I reconcile the two events.) Sunday morning we received the call...Granddad had died. With heavy hearts, we went to the hospital to welcome Emily Laverne Brown (named after my Granddad) and then drove to Midland to grieve with the family.

People have asked how I'm doing during this crazy week of events, many wondering why I'm not more tearful. After all, I was probably closest to Granddad and probably most like him. I guess my answer is that I have been praying for this to happen for 9 months now. Granddad's "official" ALS diagnosis came the day that Jackson was born. I dreaded the fact that I would have to watch the strongest man I know go gradually down hill. I didn't want to see him confined to bed, hooked up to oxygen, and having all nutrients given to him by a tube while still having the cognition to let me know what I need to do with my retirement money. That's just not fair. So, to me, this was a week of blessings. Though I'll miss my Granddad horribly, I have to praise God that on Wednesday we buried his physical body (or sinful body that would be overcome by disease & sickness) and allowed him to take on a new body that wouldn't hold him back from doing what he wanted to do most...give constant glory to God.

A New Way to Play

So I've had my exersaucer for a few months now. I've sat in it in the kitchen. I've sat in it in the living room. I've tried without success to get every part of the exersaucer in my mouth at one point or another. Today I broke through the typical exersaucer routine and found a new way to play...I play IN the exersaucer...I mean IN it, like between the top and bottom like I'm an exersaucer sandwich. I throw my rings in the bottom then I have to climb in there to retrieve them. While in the exersaucer, I can even spin the toys and still make all kinds of noise. It's great. Everyone should try it. Check me out...

Playdate

Mommy and I went on a date...a playdate! We had a great time with Braeden, Mary, Tanner, and Riley. Here are some pictures. Mary was the star of the show. Riley had to leave early for a nap so that left Mary with us three boys. She wasn't sure what to do so she just sat in her pink seat and watched like a princess. She is a princess (a pretty one at that).

Vacation Without Me?

Below is an album of some pictures of a vacation to Breckenridge...if you're expecting to see pictures of me, you won't find them here. Mommy & daddy went on vacation without me. I must say I had a blast without them...I was spoiled for about 6 days by my Nana & Papa. I even got to stay in my jammies with Papa one day and do nothing but watch Bass Masters. What a life! I'm just glad mommy & daddy both made it home without any broken bones...I was a little worried since it was daddy's first time skiing. Mommy said she was easy on him and didn't take him on any tree trails. I did hear daddy talking about taking me skiing. He says that I'll have to wait until I'm 3 so I can go to ski school. I can't wait!

Happy 3/4 Birthday & Anniversary

I'm officially 3/4 of 1 year old...or 9 months. I was so excited when I saw mommy and daddy getting all dressed up and talking about going to eat some really good food. I was thinking "Yippee...we're going out!" I started getting a little suspicious when they didn't get me all dressed up. Little did I know mommy and daddy weren't going out to celebrate my 3/4 birthday, they were going out to celebrate their anniversary. That's ok, they had a better evening planned for me. I was staying in for the night...with Josie! I love Josie (she's my babysitter). The minute she walked in, I forgot all about going out with mommy & daddy and decided to come alive to play with Josie. Life is good. What a great 3/4 of a year old birthday I had. I think mommy & daddy had a pretty good 4th anniversary too.

Here's me & Josie.

This is where mommy & daddy went. They said the chef cooked the food on the table. I bet he makes a bigger mess than I do when I eat.

It's Chilly

Mommy and daddy both had to be at church this morning so we bundled up and headed out. There weren't that many people there because of the rough weather.

Oh Baby it's COLD Outside

We ventured out this morning (daddy and I went to the mall while mommy was at Mrs. Lena's baby shower) but we're staying in now until this cold weather passes. Just me, mommy, and daddy...playing all day long...this cold weather is FUN!

Dada

Here's the link to a video of me speaking. I can go on for hours just saying, "Dada, dada, dada, dada." It's a fun game to see who can be louder, me or daddy.

Tonight was not the Knight

I thought it was any typical night. We were at dinner with Uncle Marc & Aunt Kathy...I was in my bucket enjoying a bottle, mommy & daddy were watching the clock. When dinner was finished, we said good-bye and loaded up in the car to go back to Great Grandmother's to get me to bed...afterall it was 7pm. Boy was I wrong...we didn't go home....we went to a Basketball Game!!!! Not just any basketball game though, daddy said that this game was going to be history making....Bobby Knight was going to get his 880th win so we had to be there. I didn't really care about all that record breaking stuff, I was getting to stay up past my bedtime...this was GREAT!

By the end of the half, I just couldn't take it anymore. I knew tonight was not the Knight so I put my head down and closed my eyes to dream of the day I would come to Tech not to watch a game but to play in a game!

To Bobby Knight I say: "I'll be watching from home on Monday surrounded by my Tech stuff and cheering for you to get that win! Oh, and one more thing, please remember this face because in 18 years, you'll be seeing me there!"

Gotta keep the wheels polished. You never know when you'll need them lookin' sharp.

Oh Christmas Tree

Mommy has had the Christmas tree up for a few weeks now. She even has presents under it. Everytime I've tried to get over there and look at the presents, I've been pulled back and told that those presents aren't for me to unwrap. Finally, Nana & Papa showed up this weekend with some presents for me. I sure did have fun playing with the tissue paper...nevermind the present, I liked the tissue paper.

Check out the pictures. I thought I could get away with getting my mouth on the tree before mommy had a chance to put the camera down and get me. As it turns out, I was right!

Sure, I'll pose in front of the tree for a nice picture....

I'll even sit still long enough for you to get a close-up of me. Don't mind my hand, I'm just stretching.....

Yep, just stretching. Nothing to see here.

Oh look....my hand happened to hit the tree. Hummm.

Tree in the mouth...I got it and had you fooled the whole time!

Christmas Pictures

Before Thanksgiving, mommy made me and daddy get dressed up and go get our picture made together. She was surprised how happy daddy and I both were through the whole thing. I didn't cry once and posed each time the man snapped his fingers. Below are some of the pictures.

It's been a busy few weeks. First we went to my Nana & Papa's house for Thanksgiving. I got to see my Uncle Marc & Aunt Kathy, Uncle Chris & Aunt Melissa, and cousins Caleb & Madison. Caleb & Madison are the best. They showed me how to play with my toys and kept me entertained while mommy & daddy did other things. While there, I even had my first trip to Santa's workshop. There were so many lights to see. I enjoyed all the lights except the ones that said "Whoop". I cried through that part of the drive. Daddy said that it was obvious we were in Aggie country. After the lights, things got even better because I got to see Santa. Mommy was worried I would be scared of Santa like she was but I wasn't. It was great because I really love pulling hair right now and he had tons of it on his face. I was in HEAVEN.

The second half of the past two weeks hasn't been as much fun. Mommy & I both got sick. We both had to go to the doctor and we're both doing all kinds of things to get better. I think we're doing good now. I never let it stop me though. I kept working on my words (I say Bah and occasionally Ma or Da)...working on my scooting (I can army crawl with the best of them)...and jumping like crazy in my bouncer.

Enough with the talk, on with the pictures....(there's not one with me & Santa, it's on the fridge at our house)
